What is XAMPP?

XAMPP is the most popular PHP development environment

XAMPP is a completely free, easy to install Apache distribution containing MariaDB, PHP, and Perl. The XAMPP open source package has been set up to be incredibly easy to install and to use.

 XAMPP stands for X-OS, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Perl . 

 While X-OS means cross Platform.

Why use XAMPP over other servers like WAMP ?

  • XAMPP is a cross platform tool which allows you to use XAMPP on many other Operating Systems like Mac,Ubuntu or any other Linux distro.
  • It Offers much simpler User Interface for you, if you are not much an IT Geek.
  • It is also much easier to manage your servers in XAMPP.

XAMPP Installation Requirements :-

XAMPP Package (The '.exe' File for Windows Users)

There isn't  any XAMPP 64-bit version released yet. So, you have to use 32-bit version even if you have a 64-bit OS.
If a 64-bit version gets released download it only from the Official Website.

Installation Procedure :-

 1. Save The Downloaded '.exe' file in your windows Desktop.

2. Double Click On it, Give the Administrator Permissions when prompted and Run The Installation.

3. Now Click on Next.

4. On next Window you Will see a List of Services to be installed with XAMPP. Let all services be selected as shown in the image below.

5. Now Select a Folder To Store The Files Of XAMPP. Don't select C:/program files/XAMPP as it will create some permissions issue rather select C:/XAMPP .
(Remember this path you will need it to store your files there. You can always go to that folder by clicking 'Explorer' in  XAMPP Control Panel)

6. Now Just Click On Next and Setup Will Be ready To Install on your Computer.

7. After Finishing Installation launch The XAMPP . It will be Prompted To Select the Language. Let the US Flag Icon be Selected to keep The language as English and Click save.

8. The Control Panel will be launched after.

9. Click On Start button next to name Apache on the XAMPP Control Panel.

10. Click on Admin button and Your XAMPP Apache Server will be opened in your selected/default Browser.

11. Also start MySQL server to use the phpMyAdmin page and Manage your SQL database.

Open the XAMPP Control Panel. It's in the foundation of the organizer where you introduced XAMPP, which is generally C:\xampp.
Snap Config.
Select things to dispatch at startup.
Snap Save.
Open the Windows File Explorer.
Explore to your xampp catalog.
Right-click xampp-control.exe and select Create Shortcut.
Press ⊞ Win + R
